 Purpose
The South St. Landry Community Library exists to
provide a full range of library services to all its constituents and to build community
among its patrons.
Mission
The South St. Landry Community Library.....
- provides to its patrons, to the extent of its means and through the interlibrary loan
services of the State Library system, a large and varied collection of published material
for reading, reference, research and general knowledge.
- works with the public and private schools in our district to assist teachers in
providing books, educational materials and learning oriented programs to their students.
- encourages children to develop an interest in reading and learning through services for
children, and for parents and children together.
- endeavors to promote an awareness of reading and the arts through sponsoring programs
for children and for adults.
- supports literacy programs for adults
- actively seeks grants and other external funding to increase the library collection and
its technology, to provide educational opportunities to children and adults and to
increase its ability to provide for library-related needs of the community.
- endeavors to provide a community meeting place for non-commercial activities oriented
toward education, arts and science, family and social development.
